Latur police nab members of inter-state ‘tech-savvy’ gang

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Latur district police have arrested two of the five members of an inter-state tech-savvy gang of armed dacoits.The police also recovered five firearms, including two imported ones, 59 live rounds of ammunitions, a radio frequency jammer and a frequency detector from them.This is the first incident in the state where sophisticated equipment, generally used for the protection for VVIPs who have Z category or above security, has been recovered from dacoits.The arrested suspects have been identified as Vikaskumar Gupta (27) of Manpur in Nalanda district, Amitkumar Yadav (22) of Patna. Preliminary investigation has revealed that one Subodh Kumar, currently lodged at a central prison in Bihar, is running the gangs operations. The MIDC police station have registered a case against them. Superintendent of police Somay Munde said assistant superintendent of police, Niketan Kadam, along with a local crime branch team led by inspector Sanjeevan Mirkale played a key role in nabbing the suspects on Thursday without even firing a round. Preliminary probe has revealed that the gang specialises in targeting banks and gold loan institutions. They had camped in Latur for three days and decided to strike on their target on Thursday as they were aware that the police would be occupied in the immersion proceedings. The gang usually targets financial institutions on the borders of districts and the state as it helps them evade arrest, Munde said. The police also found photos and videos of financial institutions in Latur and Alandi as well as those in Karnataka on the suspects phones..On inspecting their mobile phones, police found photos and videos of Latur and Alandi in Karnataka-based banks and gold loan institutions. They arrived in Latur three days back and carried out recce and were arrested from Barshi Road while they were on their way to target the financial institution identified by them. The police are also searching for the butchers who bought the stolen cattle.Inter-state job racket busted in Chandauli; seven arrestedA gang of fraudsters involved in duping young people of money by promising government jobs has been arrested in Varanasi, India. The gang operated across multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The police recovered fake appointment letters and mobile phones from the fraudsters. The gang appointed agents in different locations to gain the trust of victims before cheating them. The investigation revealed that Pramod Kumar Mandal was the kingpin of the gang. The police have filed an FIR against the gang members under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
