Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A government resolution (GR) uploaded on the Maharashtra government website by the Public Health Department on October 25 was removed within hours of making it public, evoking sharp reactions from activists. The GR was related to the release of COVID-related dues of one firm from Nashik district. The amount to be disbursed from the exchequer was Rs 18.9 crore. However, activists alleged that a procedure had to be followed for suppressing any GR.A Sambhajinagar actisit, Rajendra Datey-Patil, said that a separate GR needs to be issued for cancelling or modifying any existing GR.This was not done in the GR uploaded by the Public Health Department. The irresponsible act on the part of mantralaya-level authorities is a blot on Maharashtras e-governance, he said. Civic activist and AAP Maharashtra vice president, Vijay Kumbhar from Pune, has also written a letter to chief minister Eknath Shinde and his two deputies asking for an official inquiry into the matter. Factual or other errors in the GR is a different matter, but removing it abruptly without following a procedure is highly objectionable. The whole incident calls for serious official attention as it could set a wrong precedent, he said. Kumbhar also demanded that the Public Health department must give detailed reasons as to why the official document was taken off from the website.Maharashtra Public Health Minister Tanaji Sawant could not be reached for his comments.
