Woman, parents held for suicide by Nanded constable

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Nanded police have arrested a woman and her parents on the charges of abetement to suicide and criminal intimidation after a constable shot himself dead with his service pistol late on Wednesday night.A police officer said the constable, Govind Munde (37) was a resident of Vartala village in Mukhed tehsil. He was in a relationship with the woman, the officer said.Based on the complaint lodged by his widow, Janhvi, the Osmannagar police arrested Komal Kendre (30) and her parents, all from Vasmat in Hingoli district.The police said the constable was deputed as a bodyguard to a leading paediatrician. After completing his duty on Wednesday night, Munde left for his home on his bike. As he was passing by Osmanagar to Kalambar road, he stopped the bike next to a tin shed at Kalambar Shivar and took the extreme step. On learning about the incident, senior police officers, led by SP Shrikrishna Kokate, went to the spot. The probe revealed that while serving as a bodyguard to the paediatrician, Munde came in touch with Kendre who would visit the hospital for her sons treatment.Over a period of time, the woman and her parents started putting pressure on Munde to marry her. The constable, however, told them that he was married and had two children and that he could not marry Kendre, the officer said. The officer said the constable took the extreme step as he could not bear with the alleged harassment.
