Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Members of NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) and Shiv Sena have been booked on the basis of cross complaints against each other for attempt to murder in Parbhani districts Pathri.The list of accused named in the FIRs include NCP MLC Babajani Durrani and a corporator currently with the Shiv Sena led by chief minister Eknath Shinde.The two camps have claimed innocence and blamed each other for giving criminal turn to local politics.Superintendent of police R Ragasudha said, Two FIRs, which are cross-complaint in nature, have been registered. Our preliminary probe has revealed that the incident is the result of friction between two rival groups and efforts are underway to nab the accused mentioned in the FIRs.According to the first FIR registered by MLC Durranis son Juned Khan, ten identified suspects and another 10 to 15 suspects questioned him on the night of October 23 for turning up at Pathan Mohalla of Pathri.The suspects led by one Hasib Khan allegedly threatened Juned with a firearm and even assaulted him with a rod and stick. Juned sustained grievous injury to his ear in the attack.Based on the complaint, the suspects have been booked on charges of attempt to murder, unlawful assembly, rioting and under sections of the Indian Arms Act.In the cross complaint filed an hour later, one Akeb Khan stated that MLC Durrani was upset over his (Akebs) brother switching loyalty to Eknath Shinde camp.The complainant in this FIR alleged that based on the provocation of MLC Durrani, a group of suspects gathered in the area to strangulate him.Police said that based on the second FIR, the suspects, including MLC Durrani and his son Juned, along with their ten identified and eight to ten unidentified suspects have been booked for attempt to murder, unlawful assembly and rioting.The clashes between supporters and workers of the two alliance partners in the state of Maharashtra have once again highlighted the difficulty being faced by the leaders in the alliance partners in addressing the insecurities and challenges of their respective loyalists at the grassroots level.Sources said that NCP MLC Babajani Durrani has remained amongst the most influential politician in Pathris politics for the past four decades. The source also said that those who are contending against Durrani, after switching over to the Shiv Sena party, have not only found a voice, but also a support for being in the ruling camp.
