Anti-superstition body opposes Bageshwar Baba’s event in city

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, a leading anti-superstition body, has opposed the three-day sermon session of Dhirendra Krushna, alias Bageshwar Baba, in the city.The event, which was first announced by housing minister Atul Save, is now being organized by Union minister of state for finance Dr Bhagwat Karad.Hundreds of flexes announcing the three-day sessions, along with large photos of Karad, have been put up across the city for the event to be organized at Ayodhya ground, located in the vicinity railway station.In a written representation made to the city police, the samiti has demanded that the entire event should be videographed and it should be followed by appropriate action.Dhirendra Krishna Shastri (Bageshwar Dham, of Madhya Pradesh) has been making claims of miracles in the name of spirituality, propagating astrology, and curing peoples mental and physical ailments without having any medical degree, a statement issued by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar branch of the samiti said.To say, the use of pseudoscience is totally inconsistent with the value of the scientific approach, as stated in the Indian Constitution, as the basic duty of every Indian citizen. Moreover, so far, all the programs they have conducted in front of large masses in the name of spirituality are available on YouTube. These videos should be thoroughly investigated and strict legal action should be taken, said the samiti.Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, a committee dedicated to the eradication of blind faith, has been consistently opposing Bageshwar Dhams events for allegedly promoting and propagating an anti-scientific approach.Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, founded by Narendra Dabholkar in 1989, has been at the forefront of combating superstition and promoting scientific temper in the country.
