State should buy all sealed properties of Adarsh bank: Jaleel

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: As the auction for sealed properties of the scam-hit Adarsh Urban Credit Cooperative Bank continues to find no desired takers, city MP Imtiaz Jaleel has requested the state government to take over these properties.Accordingly, the local authorities have written a letter to the commissioner for cooperation and registrar of Maharashtra for necessary action.Jaleel, who has been the voice of bank depositors since the beginning, said the government purchase of Adarsh bank properties can only ensure Diwali celebrations for depositors.Around 22 bank properties are available for auction, but failing to find any bidders. Depositors could get their money back only if these properties are sold. It is high time the state government take over these properties and return money to investors, he said.Jaleel said around 40,000 bank depositors have been having sleepless nights ever since the scam broke out.Chief Minister Ekanth Shinde and Maharashtra cooperation minister Dilip Walse-Patil should take quick steps and ask the commissioner for cooperation and registrar to purchase the bank properties to create the desired corpus, he said.A marriage hall and a hospital run by the bank in Kannad taluka of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district are among the prime properties put on auction in order to recover investors money. The ED is conducting further investigations to uncover more details and irregularities.
