Water rights activist Abhijeet Dhanorkar said the desired release has already been delayed considerably. Political leaders from Nashik tried to create obstacles in water release, but the judiciary has foiled their plans. Water release was expected to start from October 15. Now the government and the GMIDC must not cause further delay and ensure immediate release of water, he said.Advocacy group, Marathwada Janta Parishad, has demanded that political leaders from the region should put pressure on the GMIDC for immediate release of water. While public leaders from Nashik and Ahmednagar regions have become vocal over the water release for Jayakwadi, leaders from Marathwada must not stay behind.
