Cops solve ₹22L theft case in 48 hrs

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The crime branch of the city police on Friday nabbed a 27-year-old criminal on police record and detected a housebreaking of Rs 22 lakh cash within 48 hours of registering the case.Crime branch inspector Sandeep Gurme said, The accused, Suryakant alias Sunny Jadhav of Mukundwadi, is a hardened criminal with 24 cases, most of them for thefts and housebreakings registered against him at different police stations in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and some in neighboring Jalna district.The crime branch has recovered Rs 21.7 lakh out of the Rs 22 lakh he allegedly stole from the flat of a construction material supplier.Police said that an unidentified suspect targeted the locked flat of an apartment situated in the Satara area of the city and walked away with the cash. The incident took place when the flat owner and his friends went on a vacation to Mumbai on November 11. Amidst this, his parents and siblings went to Gandhidham on November 13 to pay obeisance at a religious place. The incident came to light when the flat owner returned on Wednesday.Police said that while scanning the CCTV footage, it came to light that the accused targeted the flat within a couple of hours of the family stepping out on November 13.An FIR has been registered on the complaint lodged by 23-year-old Mohammed Asim. The police are compiling data on individuals causing disturbance in the city to take strict actions against them. So far, 61 criminals have been externed from Nashik city this year.Skeleton tumbles out of sealed plastic drum in Baguiati flatThe discovery of a skeleton inside a sealed plastic drum in a flat in Kolkata has raised suspicions. The flat had been rented by a Nepalese couple in 2018, but they left two years ago while continuing to pay the rent. When the landlord stopped receiving payments, he decided to clean the flat and found the skeleton. The gender and cause of death are yet to be determined, and the police are trying to identify the tenants and their whereabouts.
