Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Maharashtra school education minister Deepak Kesarkar has questioned the intention behind staging agitations in support of reservation for the Maratha community despite assurance from the state government.I am not blaming anyone. The Maratha community will be given independent reservation and while doing so, the state government has assured that the OBC reservation will not be disturbed. When the government has announced this, why are the agitations being held? The people who are going to get reservation are holding agitations. What should others, who do not have any reservation, do? Should there not be any peace? he said.Who has given them the right to cause unrest in Maharashtra. I am not saying who is causing unrest, you all have seen the unrest. The castes are being pitted against each other, but for what? For votes? Reservation is for imparting education and for their employment, or is it for establishing someones leadership? Kesarkar said. Stating that he belongs to the OBC community, Kesarkar said, My constituency has 90 per cent Maratha community and I have been elected thrice from this constituency. Why is the Maratha community being misled? He refused to comment on the statements of states civil supplies minister Chhagan Bhujbal and said that Kunbi reservation has been there since 1967, it is just that the records were untraceable. Kesarkar, during his public address in Beed district, said, Pitting castes against other castes is not in the interest of the state. After a span of eight to 10 years, the government has started recruitment for filling one lakh posts, of which any given caste should have 5,000 or 10,000 posts.
