Jarange’s aide remanded in 5-day police custody

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Rishikesh Bedre, quota activist Manoj Jaranges close aide and a key accused in the FIR registered for attack on police personnel and a separate FIR for illegal firearm possession, has been remanded in five days police custody.Bedre, a criminal on police record with several serious cases, including attempt to murder, dacoity registered against him, was arrested along with two of his accomplices on Friday in the case of attack on policemen in the aftermath of the violence that broke out in Antarwali Sarati on September 1.The three men were produced before the court on Saturday, and remanded in judicial custody.Police said that at the time of Bedres arrest, they found an illegal firearm and a couple of bullets in his possession. A fresh FIR was registered. On Tuesday, the police moved the local court and sought Bedres custody in the illegal firearm case. Subsequently, he was remanded in police custody till December 2.There is every possibility that the accused was carrying the illegal firearm and live bullets while accompanying Jarange during his tour. We are trying to find out the source of the firearm and also if it was used, said a senior police officer.Bedres arrest has come as a setback to Jaranges core team, as the accused has been an active member of the reservation movement.
