Tribune News ServiceBathinda, June 10Dr Vitull K Gupta, chairman, API, Malwa branch, and health and human rights activist, has sent written representations to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Cabinet minister OP Soni, demanding immediate issuance of an ordinance to regulate fee for MBBS courses in Punjab medical colleges. Dr Vitull expressed his frustration over the inefficiency and indifferent attitude of the Congress government under the leadership of Capt Amarinder Singh that the government had failed to regulate the fee of MBBS courses in some private medical colleges in Punjab. He said it was reported in July last year that the government had started the process of amending the Act to regulate fee at private medical universities. The Medical Education and Research Department had sent a draft of the Act to the government in August, which was cleared by the AG, but the issue was not brought before the House. Even after about 15 Cabinet meetings, such an important and sensitive matter was not included in the agenda.
