Admission process on the final leg

The last date for admission has been extended to July 31, as per circular issued by Punjabi University, Patiala. A total of 1,368 students have got themselves enrolled in first semester of various courses. As many as 36 seats have been filled out of total 45 seats in Masters of Political Science (Sem-I). Principal Jyoti Parkash told The Tribune that the college had almost completed admission process for 2019-20 session.

GOVT RAJINDRA COLLEGE Amit Bathla Bathinda, July 21 The process of admission to Government Rajindra College for session 2019-20 is heading towards the final leg, with more than 80 per cent of the seats in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the college, already being taken. The last date for admission has been extended to July 31, as per circular issued by Punjabi University, Patiala. This extention, however, is for fresh admissions only. The college offers over 1,500 seats (both in regular and self-financing mode) in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses, besides 10 per cent additional seats for rural category students. According to the information available on the official website of the college (at 6 pm), over 88 per cent seats of the total offered have been filled. A total of 1,368 students have got themselves enrolled in first semester of various courses. In BA (Semester I), which is the most popular course, there are 793 seats. Around 675 seats for this course have been filled. However, 31 students, whose challans have been issued, are yet to pay their admission fee. The current admission strength for B.Com (Sem –I) is 129, which is more than 95 per cent of seats offered in the course, which is 133. As many as 36 seats have been filled out of total 45 seats in Masters of Political Science (Sem-I). The current admission strength percentage stands at 81 per cent. Courses such as MA (Philosophy), BA (Hons School in Economics), BSc (Non-Medical with Computer Applications) and BBA have seen less number of takers in comparison to other courses. This compelled the college authorities to open the admission window for these courses again. Principal Jyoti Parkash told The Tribune that the college had almost completed admission process for 2019-20 session. There were few students who had to pay the admission fee. The college offers 10 per cent additional seats in all courses for rural students (who have studied at the school located in rural area for at least five years and have passed Class X or Class XII from that school).
