ITI principal honoured for exemplary services

I am grateful to the entire poll team and the district administration who assisted me in doing my job in an effective manner. Kumar has won gold medal in race walking event during the Master Athletics held in Malaysia in 2018. Previously, Kumar has won medals at various state and national level events. Kumar participated in running events in Patiala and won medals.

Sameer Singh Bathinda, August 18 Rupinder Kaur, principal of ITI, Jaito, was honoured by the district administration and Cabinet Minister Tript Rajinder Bajwa during the district-level Independence Day celebrations at multipurpose stadium here. Kaur was the district nodal officer, EVM-VVPAT, during the Lok Sabha elections held this year who oversaw every activity to ensure that the elections are conducted in a fair and transparent manner. Kaur, who was the principal of ITI, Bathinda, during the LS poll said, “It was one of the most sensitive works assigned during the elections and I was privileged that this opportunity was bestowed upon me. I am grateful to the entire poll team and the district administration who assisted me in doing my job in an effective manner. Among other works, strongroom monitoring was not an easy task. It was a lengthy process and even a slight mistake can cause a big problem.” Athlete honoured for winning at global event A city-based athlete, Rajiv Kumar (36), was also honoured by Cabinet Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and the district administration during the Independence Day celebrations in the city. Kumar has won gold medal in race walking event during the Master Athletics held in Malaysia in 2018. Previously, Kumar has won medals at various state and national level events. At the Master Athletics, where over 300 athletes from the country participated, Kumar won a gold medal in 1,500 m race walk and two silver medals in 10 km and 3 km race walk. Kuma did not take any formal training and learnt nuances of the race walking mostly from the Internet. It all started in 2010. Kumar participated in running events in Patiala and won medals. He never looked back and prepared himself for international events since then.
