Five held with 350-gram heroin

IN BRIEFBathinda: The police arrested five persons, including a woman, with 350-gram heroin from near a railway underbridge on the Mansa road here on Friday. The suspects have been identified as Gurvinder Singh of Tungwali, Amanpreet Kaur of Jassi Baghwali, Manpreet Singh of Mehraj, Hargobind Singh of Jassi Paowali and Jasvir Singh of Tungwali. In the first mishap, a car rammed into a tree after one of its tyres burst, leaving 12 persons injured near Kotshamir village. In the second mishap, a canter hit two motorcycles on the Mansa road here, leaving six persons injured.

The heroin was recovered from the car in which they were traveling. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Civil Lines police station. TNS Man held for ‘sacrilege’ Bathinda: The Muktsar (Sadar) police have arrested a man for “sacrilege” at a gurdwara in Roranwala village here. Complainant Baldev Singh said he saw Sukhpal Singh of the same village running away with some wires of a microphone and turning pages of Guru Granth Sahib. “He also spit some tobacco product on the gurdwara premises,” he added. Acting on his complaint, the police have registered a case against Sukhpal Singh. TNS Bathinda: Three persons were killed and 15 others injured in two road mishaps on Friday in the district. In the first mishap, a car rammed into a tree after one of its tyres burst, leaving 12 persons injured near Kotshamir village. The victim, who were workers of a factory, were taken to the Civil Hospital. During treatment, three of the victims breathed their last. In the second mishap, a canter hit two motorcycles on the Mansa road here, leaving six persons injured. TNS
