240 attend eye check-up camp

Tribune News ServiceBathinda, November 11Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal inaugurated the 56th eye check-up camp organised by Goodwill Society at Paras Ram Nagar here on Sunday. Former IAS officer CS Talwar, secretary of Red Cross Soceity, Punjab, also graced the occasion as a guest of honour. During the camp, around 240 patients were examined and 26 people were operated. Vijay Bareja, president of Goodwill Society, said Dr Karan Sarwan and his team checked people for eye-related ailments at Goodwill Hospital and rendered follow-up advise. Prof NK Gosian, Col Virender Kumar (retd), Krishan Bareja, Arun Wadhawan, Pawan Mani and Ashok Kumar were also present on the occasion.

Lauding the role of the social organisation in working for the poor, Manpreet said through such camps, people could get diagnostic facilities free of cost near their place of residence. He also announced Rs10 lakh grant to the society for phaco machine. During the camp, around 240 patients were examined and 26 people were operated.
