Home for elderly to come up in Mansa with 150-bed facility

A 150-bed facility, it will have day-care facility wherein elderly people can sit together and enjoy each other’s company. She said the municipal council of Mansa had given the land free of cost wherein the construction of “Home for Elderly” is expected to begin by the end of this month. All the facilities would be provided to the elderly free of cost. She said Friday had been earmarked exclusively for the elderly at the Civil Hospital, Mansa. Following a complaint, the SDM would conduct a detailed inquiry into it and ensure that elderly people were given justice.

Mansa, November 19 Reiterating its commitment to take care of all sections of society, the Punjab Government is coming up with a facility (Home for Elderly people) on 5 acres of land near Ramditte Wala Chowk. A 150-bed facility, it will have day-care facility wherein elderly people can sit together and enjoy each other’s company. Mansa Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait stated this while presiding over a meeting of officials of the district administration and senior citizens convened to discuss various provisions of the Welfare of Senior Citizen Act, 2007. She said the municipal council of Mansa had given the land free of cost wherein the construction of “Home for Elderly” is expected to begin by the end of this month. All the facilities would be provided to the elderly free of cost. She said Friday had been earmarked exclusively for the elderly at the Civil Hospital, Mansa. On every Friday, elderly people would be taken to the doctor concerned as per their requirement by dedicated staff. The Deputy Commissioner directed that elderly people should be given priority at government offices and tehsils. Besides, the DC added that under the Welfare of Senior Citizen Act, 2007, any elderly could make a complaint to the area SDM concerned. Following a complaint, the SDM would conduct a detailed inquiry into it and ensure that elderly people were given justice.
