BHOPAL: Stray animals are reportedly increasing number of traffic-related emergencies and measures adopted by administration to tackle the issue failed to impress city residents In the recent past, stray animals hitting vehicles resulted in deaths too. Going by their accounts, about 10% of RTAs are being attributed to stray animals hitting vehicles.The animals too suffer fatal injuries in the accidents. Animal husbandry department records no more than 20 post-mortem cases annually. Insiders admit, police and BMC are not keen to report these incidents.As per BMC norms, if stray cattle are found on streets, the cattle is impounded and kept for eight days. A fine of Rs 220 per day and for Rs 40 per day can be slapped on its owner.
