BHOPAL: Seven-year-old Armaan Jarila saw his younger brother, Bhaag fondly known as Duggu, get washed away in the strong current of a nullah in Panchsheel Nagar . He screamed and tried to help him, but all in vain. "Duggu and I were playing in the rain, near the nullah. He went close to the edge of the overflowing nullah, slipped and got caught in the strong current," A rmaan told TOI."I tried to grab his hand to pull him out, but the current was so strong that it took away my baby brother in no time." Armaan ran back home to inform his mother and aunt but, by the time they reached the spot, the three-year-old had already disappeared. It has been 12 hours since little Bhaag went missing. Bhopal Municipal Corporation has been unable to trace him.His mother, Arti Jarila, is inconsolable and holds BMC responsible for the incident. "We had requested BMC several times in the past to fence the nullah but they did not pay any heed to our demand," she said."As soon as we found out, we called BMC and informed them about the incident. Still, they have not be able to find my son. If the BMC had fenced the area, my son would not have met with this fate," she said. Her husband, Rohit, said, "We submitted several complaints to BMC to fence the nullah before the monsoon but got no response. Even during summers, this place was a headache for us. The nullah was dry then and some people would bring alcohol and consume it here and create a ruckus.""I went everywhere with the BMC team to look for my son. BMC says that the body would have reached Shahpura lake by now. We will try and search there now," he said, adding, "Duggu was the youngest member of our family and loved by all. I was not home when the incident took place. When I got the call, I could not understand what had happened. My wife kept saying that Duggu is missing. She still hopes that he is alive. She keeps on repeating that he will be back home soon."
