Another feather in Muskan’s cap, storms archery world cup final

Asian Games qualifier Muskan from MP Archery Academy has entered final of the Archery World Cup Stage-4, being organised at Berlin in Germany. She could not win the gold medal in last World Cup. Indian women's team had lost to Chinese Taipei to settle for silver in the Antalya leg of the World Cup in May this year.Muskan’s father, Virendra Kirar, is elated over his daughter’s performance. She will contest for the gold on Saturday.Trisha Deb and Jyothi Surekha Vennam are other members of the team.

Asian Games qualifier Muskan from MP Archery Academy has entered final of the Archery World Cup Stage-4, being organised at Berlin in Germany. She will contest for the gold on Saturday.Trisha Deb and Jyothi Surekha Vennam are other members of the team. Muskan-studded Indian compound team shocked top seed Turkey to storm into the final. The trio showed nerves of steel after a tied opening set to beat the fancied Turkey 231-228 to set up a gold medal clash against France.Sports minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said Muskan has become the star girl of the country. “I have never seen such a consistency in a junior player contesting in senior category. Her approach has made her star archer. We all are proud of her,” Scindia said.Coach Ricchpal Singh said Muskan’s killer instinct made her a big player. “She is just 18. She could not win the gold medal in last World Cup. She had won the silver. In Berlin, she will definitely change the colour of the metal,” said Ricchpal.Qualified as fifth seed, India pipped Great Britain by one point in the opening round. In the second round, they prevailed over higher-ranked USA 232-228 for their second final appearance in three months.In the first round, India had edged out Great Britain with the score-line 224-223. Indian women's team had lost to Chinese Taipei to settle for silver in the Antalya leg of the World Cup in May this year.Muskan’s father, Virendra Kirar, is elated over his daughter’s performance. “I have no words to say about my daughter. It is a dream come true for the family. We had never thought of going abroad. Muskan is not only visiting other countries, but also winnings medals for the country,” said Kirar.Kirar, who wanted Muskan to become a doctor, said. “Now, I am realising her decision to become an archer was correct.”
