BHOPAL: Lack of proper implementation of no-parking rule at the drop-go area of Raja Bhoj airport is making the flyers see red. Even if there is any issue like receipts are not issued then the flyers can contact me directly. They allege that airport officials are being selective in imposing fine on people violating the rule. BHOPAL: Lack of proper implementation of no-parking rule at the drop-go area of Raja Bhoj airport is making the flyers see red. They allege that airport officials are being selective in imposing fine on people violating the rule. Many vehicles violating the rule, they say, are allowed to escape without coughing up the fine.To ensure that the drop-and-go lane remains free from a jam-like situation, the airport authorities have increased the fine for violators from Rs 250 to Rs 3,000 recently. However, strict implementation of the rule is seldom seen thereby bringing little change on the ground.A jam-like situation and drivers screaming from their vehicles is still a common sight at the area every day. Though vehicles are not allowed to stop at the exit or entry gates of the terminal, the rule is hardly followed. From the parking lot, one has to walk almost 400 metre to reach the terminal through an elevated curve. As the distance is more, people instead of parking the vehicle in designated parking lot take them to the pick-and- drop lane, adding to chaos.Realising how tough it gets to navigate the vehicles in the pick-and-drop lane in stipulated 6 minutes, the authorities had decided to act tough against taxies and other vehicles that occupied much of the space. Taxies make it difficult for others to move out of the area in six minutes. Once the time is over, one is liable to pay the dues for violating the no-parking rule."I went to airport and parked the vehicle. Officials came there and put a lock on my vehicle's tyres. They asked me to pay Rs 3,000. After insistence, they were ready for only Rs 100. All this time, I could see vehicles being allowed to park without any charge. The rule should be same for everyone," said a passenger Dr Shalini Saxena. When contacted, director airport, Anil Vikran said, "Charges were decided at the higher level. We are only implementing their decision. We give receipt for whatever money is charged in the form of fine. Even if there is any issue like receipts are not issued then the flyers can contact me directly. I will take necessary action."
