MP Cong MLA ‘beats’ CM Shivraj in race to cut ribbon, booked

Congress MP Kantilal Bhuriya stunned BJP by cutting the ribbon on Tuesday, a day ahead of the scheduled launch by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan . The MP called a priest, who performed some rituals and broke a coconut on the ground after which Bhuriya cut the ribbon. "Bhuriya told mediapersons that the date and time chosen by officials for the inauguration "were not very auspicious", so he decided to do it the day before on Baba Ramdevra 's birthday. Not amused by the game of one-upmanship, the government on Wednesday filed a police case against Bhuriya and 15 others.CM Chouhan officially inaugurated the Rs 274-crore facility on Wednesday, and said: "The government's efforts have helped increase the number of doctors passing out of medical colleges from 600 a year to 2,500. This will boost healthcare in rural areas." The CM refrained from making any comment on Bhuriya's scissors act, but Ratlam police registered a case against the Congress MP and 14 Congress workers for violating the district magistrate's order against gathering of more than four people.After 'inaugurating' the college on Tuesday, Bhuriya had told local mediapersons: "I tried to contact the dean of the college but he did not turn up, so we carried out the inauguration ceremony."Bhuriya told mediapersons that the date and time chosen by officials for the inauguration "were not very auspicious", so he decided to do it the day before on Baba Ramdevra 's birthday.
