BHOPAL: A man duped 13 persons of Rs 5 lakh on pretext of giving them admission in a Gwalior college and getting them subsidised houses under the Prime Minister’s housing scheme.The accused took the victims to the residence of a cabinet minister twice in Bhopal to flaunt his connections. The cabinet minister in question was in the bungalow both the times when the accused took victims there.TT Nagar police registered a fraud case in this regard. The accused would introduce himself a senior official of a Gwalior-based college.

BHOPAL: A man duped 13 persons of Rs 5 lakh on pretext of giving them admission in a Gwalior college and getting them subsidised houses under the Prime Minister’s housing scheme.The accused took the victims to the residence of a cabinet minister twice in Bhopal to flaunt his connections. The accused would introduce himself a senior official of a Gwalior-based college. The cabinet minister in question was in the bungalow both the times when the accused took victims there.TT Nagar police registered a fraud case in this regard. The accused was reportedly rounded up.Sanjay is a complainant in the case and Rajesh, a native of Bhind, is the accused, police said.The accused came to the shop of complainant a few months ago. During interaction, he told him he can arrange admission in a Gwalior- based college. The complainant gave Rs 60,000 for his and his sister’s admission. Later, accused Rajesh told he has a few houses under the prime minister housing scheme. Sanjay and 12 others gave him Rs 5 lakh to avail houses.The accused promised to deliver the houses by August 20, but later delayed it giving reason of former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s death.Police said the fraud came to light when the accused gave Sanjay a receipt of college admissions. When the complainant verified, he instantly came to know that it was forged.The accused would call victims to a hostel located in in Malviya Nagar. He showed some under-construction houses in Saket Nagar telling he would make houses available to victims under the Prime Minister’s housing scheme, police said, adding that matter remains under investigation.
