4 of a family killed in LPG, fridge explosion

BHOPAL: A couple and their two daughters died and five persons were injured after an LPG cylinder exploded in a neighbour’s home, bringing down their house late Friday night in Darpan Colony of Gwalior People in the house where the explosion took place are safe, but the shockwaves blasted outward and brought down a wall on the house of neighbour Anantram Parihar where nine persons were sleeping. Parihar’s son is among three fighting for life.Police suspect the LPG cylinder was leaking and a short circuit sparked the explosion, which in turn triggered a blast in the fridge compressor.‘Police, fire dept took over an hr to arrive’The combined impact was so powerful that it blew the wall behind the fridge and sent it crashing into Parihar’s house.It was the neighbours who dug through the mound of rubble with bare hands and shovels to extricate the victims and take them to hospital.Police and the fire brigade were informed immediately but took more than an hour to arrive, say locals.
