Madhya Pradesh assembly elections: Congress expels 16 rebels

BHOPAL: Congress expelled 16 rebels from the party contesting as independent candidates in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections. Similarly, Samandar Patel contesting as independent from Jawad has been expelled, besides, Toofan Singh and Om Singh Bhati from Mandsaur Congress rebels from Agar Malwa seat, Rana Vikram Singh, Rana Natwar Singh, Lokendra Singh, Madhu Gehlot have been expelled as well.Hamir Singh Rathore, contesting as independent from Jawra seat has been expelled from the party. Congress has given ticket to Kalawati Bhuria- the niece of Member of Parliament Kantilal Bhuria, from Jobat this time. She contested independently in 2013, however, had lost.The party has expelled Xavier Meda, a former MLA, who is contesting as an independent candidate this time.

The list comprises three former MLAs including three-term MLA from Jobat assembly constituency and former minister Sulochana Rawat and her son Vishal Rawat.Sulochana Rawat is a close aide of former chief minister Digvijaya Singh . Congress has given ticket to Kalawati Bhuria- the niece of Member of Parliament Kantilal Bhuria, from Jobat this time. Corporator from Ujjain, Maya Trivedi; Jai Singh Darbar from Ujjain; former MLA from Mandala, Tulsiram Dhumketi; Savitri Dhumketi and Ashok Dixit have also been expelled from the party.Congress has also shown the door to rebel Surendra Singh, who has a strong hold in Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency. Congress rebels from Agar Malwa seat, Rana Vikram Singh, Rana Natwar Singh, Lokendra Singh, Madhu Gehlot have been expelled as well.Hamir Singh Rathore, contesting as independent from Jawra seat has been expelled from the party.
