As per EC's announcement, the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh will be held in a single phase on November 28, 2018. NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India ECI ) on October 6, 2018, announced the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) election dates. In the previous Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections (2013), the Congress faced a major defeat, winning merely 58 out of the 230 assembly seats.The BJP won 165 out of the 230 Assembly constituencies, while the rest 7 were won by other political parties. After the victory of BJP in 2013 assembly elections, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was elected the CM of state for the third consecutive time. The term for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly expires on January 7, 2019.The two leading parties in the state, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress (INC), is gearing up for a tough election battle in the state.
