BHOPAL: Four members of a vehicle lifters gang, active in city in the last six months, were arrested by Nishaptura police during vehicle checking. Police recovered ten vehicles — five cars and five bikes — worth Rs 6 lakh on Sunday.Police said, the gang mainly target Alto 800 cars as they find it easier to break its lock, in comparison to other cars.ASP Zone-4 Shanu Aftab Ali said three youths in a car were stopped at achecking point near Best Price, but they sped away. Cops chased and nabbed them a little distance away. When they were asked to show the documents of the car, they could not provide the same, and the car was reported stolen. When police questioned them, they confessed to stealing vehicles from different parts of the city along with their four accomplices.The three accused were identified as Ajju alias Ajay Vishwakarma, 20, Sunil Namdev, 19, both resident of Misrod and Rajendra Shilpi, 28, a resident of Badi tehsil in Raisen district. Based on the information fourth accused was nabbed later in the investigation who was identified as Shivam Kushwaha. Ajju was earlier nabbed by Mandideep police in vehicle theft case and was residing in Misrod for the past four months after coming out of jail. He had fled from police custody once. The accused targeted small cars as mostly they do not have central locking and in sedan cars the alarm alert the owners. The accused used to steal two-wheelers while on a recce of parked vehicles. The recovered vehicles were stolen from Misrod, Habibganj, Aishbagh, Katara Hills and Nishatpura areas.Police have taken these accused on police remand and started search for other accomplices who have helped the accused in stealing and disposing the vehicles. Meanwhile, Gautam Nagar police nabbed two vehicle lifters and recovered a car worth Rs 7 lakh from their possession on Sunday from JP Nagar trisection; car was stolen from Ratlam and accused was nabbed while they were trying to sell the stolen car.The nabbed miscreants were identified as Prithviraj Singh and Goud. They confessed to stealing the car from Industrial area Ratlam. A case was registered against them.
