Madhya Pradesh: Netas & babus surrender red beacons

"In Madhya Pradesh, most of the politicians and officials misuse red beacon to flaunt their VIP status. Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government will strictly monitor compliance to stop use of beacons atop official vehicles by ministers and officials. Welcoming the Centre's decision to ban use of red beacons, Congress alleged it has put a check on the VIP culture and misuse by the family members of the ruling party members. They not only flaunted the beacons as a status symbol but also harassed public and employees to throw weight about their influence. In some cases, government employees were manhandled and beaten by these VIPs," said Congress state spokesperson Vibha Patel.After the decision to remove red and amber beacons, officials of Chhindwara, Jabalpur and Gwalior districts came forward and did so voluntarily to remove the beacons atop their official vehicles.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government will strictly monitor compliance to stop use of beacons atop official vehicles by ministers and officials. Most ministers of Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet and senior officials have complied with the diktats of the Centre and removed red and amber beacon from their vehicles.However, some senior officials are waiting and enjoying the status symbol for a few more days.State government has warned strict monitoring to restrict use of red and amber beacons and state transport department has circulated a central government notification about instructions on removing red, amber and blue beacons from official cars.State Congress has also objected to the misuse of red beacons by some politicians. Welcoming the Centre's decision to ban use of red beacons, Congress alleged it has put a check on the VIP culture and misuse by the family members of the ruling party members. They not only flaunted the beacons as a status symbol but also harassed public and employees to throw weight about their influence."In Madhya Pradesh, most of the politicians and officials misuse red beacon to flaunt their VIP status. They were followed by the officials of the state secretariat and other departments.Even chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan instructed all officials to remove their red and amber beacons from the official vehicles.Officials in the state secretariat said that government will ensure that the ban on red beacon be strictly monitored and implemented before the due date of May 1.
