Pre-monsoon showers cool Bhopal

BHOPAL: Ahead of the monsoon arrival, Bhopal received a good spell of pre-monsoon rain on Saturday. Places that received showers included Shivpuri (10mm), Jabalpur (9mm), Guna (6mm) and Indore (4mm).Monsoon trough is passing through north-west Rajasthan to west central Bay of Bengal . Within an hour post noon, the city received a good 5mm rainfall, turning the weather pleasant.The showers and cloud cover also helped in keeping the temperature under the bearable limits. In other parts of the state, the met officials said, there is likely chance of rain or thunder showers at places including Jhabua, Alirajpur, Ratlam, Barwani, Dhar, Khargone, Khandwa and Burhanpur. Day and night temperature are likely to remain around 34 degrees and 24 degrees while the average wind speed would be 18 kmph.

Day temperature was recorded at 34.3 degrees Celsius, a degree above the normal mark while the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.0 degrees, which was at the normal mark. Wind direction was south-westerly while the average wind speed was 20 kilometre per hour.Weatherman said, by Saturday evening, the monsoon has covered only less than half of the state. Officials at the Met office, Bhopal circle said it may take another two days to reach Bhopal.Monsoon advanced in the state on Saturday covering areas including Alirajpur, Khargone, Khandwa, Betul, Chhindwara, Seoni and adjoining places. Conditions are favourable for its further advancement.Pre-monsoon activities were witnessed in other parts of the state as well. Places that received showers included Shivpuri (10mm), Jabalpur (9mm), Guna (6mm) and Indore (4mm).Monsoon trough is passing through north-west Rajasthan to west central Bay of Bengal . In MP it is passing through the northern parts, causing the rainfall.In the forecast for Bhopal the weatherman said, there is chance of light rain and thundershowers on Sunday. Day and night temperature are likely to remain around 34 degrees and 24 degrees while the average wind speed would be 18 kmph. In other parts of the state, the met officials said, there is likely chance of rain or thunder showers at places including Jhabua, Alirajpur, Ratlam, Barwani, Dhar, Khargone, Khandwa and Burhanpur. Rainfall is also likely at isolated places in Hoshangabad, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Dewas, Indore, Chhindwara, Seoni and Narsinghpur districts.Met department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar and Barwani in next 24 hours.
