Now, NLIU students demand audit of teachers

BHOPAL : After ending their protest on Wednesday evening, NLIU students have decided to raise the 'teachers' audit' issue before the inquiry committee to find out their educational qualifications. It is the money of students and it should be properly audited," students said.The week-long agitation by NLIU students was called off on Wednesday evening after the intervention of Madhya Pradesh high court Chief Justice Hemant Gupta. He ordered to "expedite the process of appointing a new director" and set up an inquiry committee to look into students' allegations. "As a student I must know about the teacher regarding his experience and expertise in thw subject," said students. For this purpose, a committee has been formed comprising additional chief secretary of higher education and principal secretary of law.

Meanwhile, a consultant quit his NLIU post citing personal reasons on Thursday. Sources said the newly-appointed registrar Giribala Singh could not take charge on Thursday as the order of her appointment was yet to be received by NLIU. She is likely to join the university on Friday.Students alleged that there are a few faculty in the teaching staff who do not have expertise in their subjects. "It has been proved number of times in the past that they failed to answer the queries raised by the students in the class," they said.Students said whenever they tried to raise the issue they were threatened with low marks in exams. "As a student I must know about the teacher regarding his experience and expertise in thw subject," said students. They said that they had raised the issue several times before the director Prof Singh. "However, we did not get a proper response. We are not against any faculty, but we are concerned about our career. There should be financial audit by the government agency in the university. Why is there no financial audit by the government agency. It is the money of students and it should be properly audited," students said.The week-long agitation by NLIU students was called off on Wednesday evening after the intervention of Madhya Pradesh high court Chief Justice Hemant Gupta. He ordered to "expedite the process of appointing a new director" and set up an inquiry committee to look into students' allegations. Classes will resume after a week.He had also ordered to inquire about the allegations made by students. For this purpose, a committee has been formed comprising additional chief secretary of higher education and principal secretary of law. The committee has been asked to submit the report by December 25.
