Tribune News Service Mohali January 27 To mark the 72nd Republic Day state-level celebrations were held at Mohali. Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore unfurled the Tricolour at the stadium in the Phase 6 Government College in the presence of Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan District and Sessions Judge RS Rai Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan and other distinguished guests. Extending greetings to all he recollected the sacrifices of freedom fighters and soldiers who lost their lives for the nation and expressed gratitude towards those who framed the Indian Constitution. The Governor said Punjab was known across the world for its prosperity and greenery and hoped that people would maintain this in the times to come. “I hope that the ongoing problems of the farmers is resolved soon through talks. I pay tributes to the farmers who have lost their lives and express condolences to their families” he said. On Covid-19 the Governor said: “Indias war against the pandemic has reached a critical juncture. The campaign for a healthy Covid-free India has been strengthened with the approval of the vaccines. I congratulate all scientists and innovators involved in this campaign.” Earlier the Governor took a salute from a parade comprising the contingents of Punjab Police (PRTC Jahankhelan) UT (Chandigarh) Police Brass and Pipe Band of Punjab Police and NCC cadets led by DSP Rupinderdeep Kaur Sohi.
