Watchman booked for burning Estate Office records

Chandigarh January 27A watchman at the Estate Office Sector 17 has been booked for burning official records. According to the police a case has been registered on a complaint of Rakesh Kumar junior assistant/record keeper at the Estate Office. The complainant alleged that Pankaj who worked as a watchman intended to burn official record of the office on the night of January 18. The officials at the Estate Office were then informed about the incident. A police official said they had written to the Estate Office and sought details about the files which were burnt.

According to the police a case has been registered on a complaint of Rakesh Kumar junior assistant/record keeper at the Estate Office. The complainant alleged that Pankaj who worked as a watchman intended to burn official record of the office on the night of January 18. The police said Pankaj was burning three files when he was caught by cops on duty at the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The officials at the Estate Office were then informed about the incident. A police official said they had written to the Estate Office and sought details about the files which were burnt. Sources said the files that were burnt pertained to some properties. A case under Sections 380 381 409 435 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 17 police station. The suspect is yet to be arrested. — TNS
