Haryana to draw new masterplan to declare Faridabad-Palwal area adjacent to Yamuna as controlled area, says CM

FARIDABAD: Haryana chief minister, Manohar Lal Khattar said on Wednesday that the Jewar Airport has opened up new possibilities for development in Faridabad and Palwal districts. For the planned development of both the districts, a new masterplan will be prepared by declaring the Yamuna area as a controlled area.The chief minister said this while presiding over the fourth meeting of the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA).In the meeting, a total budget of Rs 878.23 crore was approved for the year 2023-24 to accelerate the development of Faridabad city. The authority approved key projects designed to improve the citys infrastructure, enhance citizen services and contribute to a better environment while envisioning the future population growth and related infrastructure development requirements by the year 2031. The development agenda was presented by chief executive officer, FMDA, A Sreenivas which was approved by the CM.Khattar said that with a futuristic outlook and vision for Faridabad, FMDA has developed a strong development plan keeping in mind the projected population growth in the city till 2031. Some major development plans were presented in the authority meeting to support the expansion and development of Faridabad in the next few years. The chief minister said that as per Faridabad Development Plan-2031, the master plan has been prepared by FMDA for the supply of bulk drinking water to the present and potential population of the entire Faridabad city. Presently, water availability in Faridabad is 330 MLD, and construction of 12 new Ranney Wells is underway by FMDA which will take the supply capacity to 450 MLD.Currently, Faridabad has 272.5 MLD capacity sewage treatment plants (STPs) available to treat 380 MLD total domestic wastewater. Moreover, domestic sewage production will be 630 MLD in the year 2031 and 672 MLD in the year 2040.20km long road along Agra canal will be four-laneThe CM said that the proposal for construction of two additional lanes and strengthening of the existing two-lane road on the 20 km long road along the Agra Canal in Greater Faridabad has been approved. Through this route, the passengers will have improved access to Delhi, Noida and Meerut, Bulandshahr or Yamuna Expressway as well as Faridabad-Jewar Airport Road. Sh. Manohar Lal underlined that this project is of high public interest and will greatly benefit the citizens. The UP-Irrigation Department will execute this project as a deposit work of FMDA at a cost of Rs. 278 Cr wherein construction/widening of a paved road with central verge and cycle track will be taken up.CCTV surveillance and enhancing civil securityKhattar said that to strengthen the scope of CCTV surveillance in the city, enhance security measures and ensure electronic monitoring and enforcement of road safety on National Highways, State Highways, roads and urban city areas, the Authority has been entrusted with various important tasks in Faridabad. A proposal to provide about 1009 cameras at various places was also presented, which has been approved.
