Noida airport in mind, Faridabad & Palwal to get new masterplans: CM Manohar Lal Khattar

GURGAON: Faridabad and Palwal will get new masterplans, keeping in consideration the potential for development and NCR connectivity as an international airport is coming up in Noidas Jewar, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Wednesday.For the planned development of Faridabad and Palwal districts adjoining Jewar, a new masterplan will be prepared by declaring the Yamuna area as a controlled area, Khattar said, chairing the fourth meeting of the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA). At the meeting, the CM approved FMDAs 2023-24 budget amounting to Rs 878.2 crore for development of the NCR city.Among the key projects approved is the proposal to construct two additional lanes on the existing 2-lane road along the Agra Canal in Greater Faridabad. With this, the drive to Delhi, Noida, Meerut, Bulandshahr as well as the Faridabad-Jewar airport road will be smoother.CCTV surveillance, too, will be scaled up, with plans to install 1,009 cameras across the city, and on highways and roads. Of these, the project will include installation of 566 CCTV cameras, 48 speed cameras, 100 body wearable cameras, 260 automatic number plate recognition cameras and 25 red light violation detection cameras.Another project in consideration is scaling up Faridabads drinking water supply from the existing 330MLD to 450MLD after construction of 12 Ranney Wells. The administrative approval for installation of five Ranney wells in Basantpur village to supplement water supply in Badkhal and NIT constituencies was given by the CM on Wednesday. The project will cost Rs 294.1 crore.The citys waste treatment system needs improvements. Currently, Faridabad has the capacity to treat 272.5MLD of sewage, while domestic wastewater comes to 380MLD. The repairs will be done in phases, with the first phase requiring Rs39 lakh in funding. MLAs have urged authorities to expedite the 24X7 water supply project in both established and newly developing areas. In Vadodara, water supply will be affected due to flooding in the Mahi River, while in Hubballi-Dharwad, a 24x7 central control centre has been established to address water supply complaints and inquiries.Repairs to key water supply lines to plug 60 MLD lossesThe Pune civic administration plans to repair water transmission lines in four areas to prevent leakages. The repairs are expected to save up to 60 MLD of water. The administration is using sensors to identify leakages and will replace old pipelines in the first phase. The work is part of the 24X7 water supply project, which aims to replace old infrastructure and increase capacity. Local MLAs have requested the authorities to expedite the project in newly developing areas as well.
