FARIDABAD: The families of the two 16-year-old boys who were found hanging from a tree near an ashram in Sector 44 early on Monday alleged they might have been murdered and urged police to conduct a thorough investigation. The two boys - friends for four years - were found hanging from the same plastic rope on either side of a palash tree branch around 2am on Monday. Both had left home in their scooters in the afternoon, telling their families they were going to meet each other and would return home before sunset.Police said it appeared the two had entered into a suicide pact. The families of the boys - who have known each other for years - questioned the claim."I met police commissioner Rakesh Arya on Tuesday and urged him to conduct a thorough investigation in the case. Police are saying its a case of suicide. I have known these boys for years. They could not have killed themselves. It appears to be a murder," the father of one of the boys told TOI.Later, the families submitted a written complaint with police. Till late on Tuesday evening, the cops were in the process of registering an FIR.The father also sought to know from police why they hadnt questioned residents of nearby villages or conducted a search of the area for possible clues. "They were only 16. How could they hang themselves by standing on a scooter, putting the noose around their neck and then kicking the two-wheeler away? There were packets of leftover food and water bottles lying nearby. The quantity seemed to be much more than what two boys of their age could finish. One of them still had his spectacles on. It would have fallen off had he struggled in the process," he said. The father also pointed out that one of the boys had blood stains on his T-shirt. "Police should test the samples. I am certain other people are involved in this. But we cant point fingers at anyone now," the father said.Vikas, the investigating officer in the case, said they were yet to get any clues that pointed to a murder. "We are yet to unlock their phones. We will go through the call records once that is done," he added.
