‘1 week too short’:HSSC portal to update list of preferences shut

GURGAON: The option to update preferences for group C recruitment exam opened by Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) on September 25 was closed on Tuesday. Around 3.2 lakh candidates applied for Common Entrance Test (CET), following which HSSC decided to get the preferences filled out by them before the examination for the main paper is scheduled. They were for 32,000 posts under group C in the state.Only 1.3 lakh candidates were able to fill their preferences during the one-week window. Around 300 candidates lodged complaints with HSSC claiming that the time period was very less compared to the number of candidates . An applicant had to write their serial number in Roman in front of the category of posts, take a print-out, self-attest it and then upload it on the website. Candidates claimed that the data uploaded earlier on the portal could not be edited as they were locked. The exam will be held at 488 centers across 31 districts, with 21,000 candidates taking the test in the state capital. The exam will be held offline for two hours, starting at 12 noon. Strict security measures have been put in place, including the deployment of police and magistrates at all centers. Candidates are prohibited from bringing certain items, and any violation will result in severe penalties.
