FARIDABAD: Following up on a fathers "one last" appeal, city police helped trace his son who vanished from their home eight years ago in June 2015. The son, now 53, was found in Mumbai with the help of local police. Police said he had changed his identity and was convinced to come back home to his family. Vasu Ram Kalra (75) said on Monday that he approached cops at the NIT police station two weeks back to search for his missing son Jagdish. Jagdish, who worked as a driver in NCR, had left home as mounting financial troubles and debt often resulted in disputes with his family. He also left behind his wife and two children - a daughter (now 25) and a son (now 23). "We knew he was under tremendous stress and was unhappy with his life. But we never expected him to simply vanish. Ever since he left us, we tried every possible way to locate him," said Vasu Ram Kalra. After his request, city cops followed sought inputs on a WhatsApp group called All India Police, on which the forces of all states add information about missing persons. Mumbai Police approached them soon after, saying they had spotted the man. Cops at the NIT station assembled a team that included ASI Rajkumar and head constable Amit and left for Mumbai with Jagdishs uncle Surender Khurana (65), a chemist in Delhi. In Mumbai, Jagdish was spotted at the Kalyan railway station. Jagdish, who supplied groceries to a bakery, was initially reluctant to come back, but he got emotional on seeing his uncle. "He is like a son to me. Police and I convinced him to come back home," said Khurana.Jagdish told cops he had deliberately changed his name and he would earn Rs 500-600 a day.
