A toxic haze engulfed the region for the seventh consecutive day.Elementary education officer Saroj Dahiya said, "Teachers will be utilising the smart boards at schools and the tablets provided to them from the department of education to conduct online classes. Parents of students will be informed about the move and will be guided to going back to the online class system."Identifying the problems of online classes, Manoj Lakhra, the project coordinator for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy for primary classes, said, "During the pandemic, it was easier to conduct online classes because even the parents of the children would stay home, and they would have access to gadgets like mobile phones and laptops. But at present, only children will have to stay home - they might or might not have access to gadgets or the internet. Further, there always have been network issues in remote areas."To address these issues, the department has made the online classes flexible."Teachers record their lectures and upload it online for students to listen to at any time they can. Further, we have given the liberty to students to get the contact numbers of their neighbours added, if their parents or guardians who can provide their phones for classes arent available during the day," Lakhra said.
