Now, a command centre in Gzb to help address complaints in time

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) is setting up a command centre at its headquarters in Navyug Market to monitor work to redress residents complaints on roads, garbage collection, street lights, sewer and water pipelines, etc., and ensure it gets done quickly.Called the Integrated and Smart Control System, it will handle at least 18 types of complaints that residents lodge over WhatsApp, Facebook or the GMC grievance redressal portal while ensuring constant monitoring of the work done.The GMC is attempting to narrow the time gap in attending to complaints on civic issues. The Integrated and Smart Control System will help redress complaints on a real-time basis while ensuring monitoring at the highest-levels, said NK Choudhary, chief engineer, GMC. It will also make door-to-door garbage collection more robust because the command system will track the coordinates of the GPS-fitted vehicles on a real time basis, added Choudhary.The complaints will go to the supervisor concerned via the system, who will send a team to attend to the problem. After finishing the work, the team will send a report with a picture within a stipulated time. The complainants will also receive the same.The GMC officials recently visited Indore, which has the system. Indore is one municipality which for consecutive years have been making a mark in cleanliness rankings and not without a reason. Initiatives like the Integrated and Smart Control System and waste management are areas the GMC needs to focus on, and we will soon implement the same in Ghaziabad, said mayor Sunita Dayal.The project will be completed with CSR funds, meaning that the GMC will only have to provide space for it.
