Ghaziabad/New Delhi: Launching a section of the countrys first rapid rail project on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cited the historic landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon, the success of the G20 summit and the record-breaking tally of more than a hundred medals at the Asian Games to say that India was scripting success stories in all sectors. The PM also reiterated his governments track record of completing projects that it launches. I had said this earlier and am saying it today that we inaugurate projects that we lay foundation stones of, he said. Modi had laid the foundation stone for the rapid rail just four years ago, though the project itself was conceptualised in 2013. Making his re-election pitch, he added, In the next one or one and a half years, this entire corridor will be complete and I will be there at your service, he said.In his trademark style of engaging the crowd, the PM sought an assurance from the thousands who were in attendance to keep the trains clean and scratch-free. Modi asked, Doesnt a poor man maintain his bicycle and keep it clean? If you have a scooter, you take care of... Dont you feel good about it? he asked, adding, Our new trains should not get a single scratch. Will you take care of it like you take care of your own vehicle? He also spoke about transformational change taking place in infrastructure sector, particularly railways and roads, with the introduction of Vande Bharat trains, launch of the Amrit Bharat station revamp scheme and new expressways. He said the current decade will be the decade of transformation of Indian Railways. I am not in the habit of small dreams and walking slowly. I want to give a guarantee to the young generation of today that by the end of this decade, you will find Indian trains second to none in the world, Modi said. Recalling his own experiences, he said, I have spent my childhood at a railway station and I look at the transformation of trains with awe, which makes me happy. Comparing the Namo Bharat ride with his chopper ride, he said, A chopper is like a hawai tractor for the noise it makes, I am forced to plug my ears. The ride on Namo Bharat is almost noiseless, even less than planes. The PM listed out some of the recent big decisions of the government, particularly aimed at farmers and women in the poll season, like record hike in MSP of wheat and pulses: increase in DA of serving and retired central government employees; Rs 500 subsidy for LPG cylinders under Ujjwala scheme; and increased ethanol production which has helped clear the dues of sugarcane farmers. Modi said, You are my family, so you are my priority. This work is being done for you. If you are happy, I will be happy. If you are capable, the country will be capable. The steep hike in MSP for wheat is seen as politically significant, considering poll-bound MP and Rajasthan are the third and fourth largest producers of the crop. He also highlighted how the Centre spent Rs 2.5 lakh crore on fertiliser subsidy to shield farmers from the spike in global prices of the soil nutrients.Gehlot will lose sleepTaking an indirect dig at Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, the PM said Namo Bharat trains will very soon connect parts of Haryana and Rajasthan. Since now I mentioned Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot ji will lose sleep over it, said Modi amid loud cheer from the crowd.Symbol of women power Flagging off the first Namo Bharat train during Navratri, Modi said that women make up the entire support staff and the locomotive pilots of the newly inaugurated train. Namo Bharat is a symbol of the strengthening women power, he said.
