5 shanties gutted in blaze at Indirapuram, no casualties

GHAZIABAD: Five shanties were gutted after a fire broke out in a slum cluster in Indirapurams Kanawani area on Tuesday afternoon. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. No casualties were reported.The initial investigation revealed that the residents of the slum had put up wires on electric poles to draw electricity illegally, which led to a short circuit in one of the houses.Rahul Pal, chief fire officer (CFO) said that the fire was doused in two hours. A 5kg cylinder in one of the houses blasted, adding fuel to the flames, and as the fire spread a total of five cylinders exploded one after the other.
