GHAZIABAD: Police have registered an FIR against 4-5 security personnel of poet Kumar Vishwas for allegedly assaulting a doctor on Wednesday in an incident of road rage in the Indirapuram area.The doctor, Pallab Bajpai, alleged a police car requested an overtake and he gave way to it. But occupants of a second car, which was right behind the police car, stopped and abused him over his "driving skills".These were Kumar Vishwass security personnel, who also roughed up the doctor and snatched his smartwatch as an argument broke out.A Pratap Vihar resident, Bajpai is an anaesthetist and works as a freelancer in different hospitals in Delhi-NCR. The 35-year-old claimed he was headed for an operation at a private hospital in Pratap Vihar after completing surgery at Vaishalis Arogya hospital at the time of the incident. An 8-second video of the incident, shared on social media, shows some men, including a gunner, beating the doctor near a black Kia Carnival under a flyover near the Hindon river.Bajpai suffered head and eay injuries and is still admitted in ICU at a private hospital. In a post on X, Kumar Vishwas claimed he was travelling to Aligarh from Vasundhara when the driver of a car tried to hit a vehicle in which his security men were travelling. When his security guards stopped the man for questioning, he attacked not only a UP police constable but also the security personnel of the central forces.ACP (Indirapuram) Swatantra Singh said the initial probe indicated the claims made by the former politician were found to be unfounded. An FIR has been registered against the security personnel of Kumar under the IPC Sections 392 (robbery), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation)."An investigation is under way," ACP said. Bajpais brother-in-law Vipul Mishra claimed cops did not impose more stringent sections, like attempt to murder, because Kumar Vishwas is a well-known person. "Kumar must apologise in public as he kept seated inside the car when his security personnel were beating a doctor in the middle of the road badly," Mishra said. On Thursday, in another post on X, Kumar Vishwas accused the doctor of slapping his manager when he tried to settle the dispute.
