GHAZIABAD: There were 23 fire incidents in Ghaziabad on Diwali. The maximum, six, were in Vaishali, followed by four in Modianagar. No injuries have been reported.The fire incidents have come down from 31 last Diwali. The district has reported 162 fire incidents on Diwali since 2015. At 36, the maximum number of fire incidents was in 2018.Rahul Pal, chief fire officer of Ghaziabad, termed 13 of the 23 fire incidents on Sunday major, saying that the fire department successfully brought them under control.Maintenance teams or locals doused the remaining 10 fires before the fire department could reach them.The first incident was at 1 am on Sunday when a fire broke out in a paper manufacturing unit in Khoda. The cause is still unknown, but it took firefighters over three hours to douse the flames with five fire tenders.The CFO said, "We started to douse the fire from two sides of the unit and used JCB to break the wall. After that, fire officials entered the premises. In light of Diwali, fire officials were alert throughout the day and night."At 6 pm on Sunday, a fire broke out in three closed shops in the market area of Royal Tower near the Shipra police chowki. Firefighters controlled the situation after breaking the locks and gates of the shops.Noida saw 12 incidents of fire on Sunday. Four broke out inside houses, one at a factory and six in garbage dumps. No injuries or casualties have been reported. "Sixteen fire tenders stood at busy markets or residential areas for emergency response. Apart from this, teams with basic fire extinguishers stayed on alert," said Pradeep Choubey, CFO of Gautam Budh Nagar.
