Four detained for flaunting ‘gun’, cops find it’s a lighter

Ghaziabad: Four youths, including a juvenile, were tracked down and apprehended after a video of them brandishing a gun — later found to be a lighter designed like a pistol — on a busy road in Ghaziabad was shared several times on social media.The clip showed the four youths sitting in a moving car, a white SUV with UP registration, on the Indirapuram-Siddharth Vihar Road amid some traffic as one of them puts his hand out of the window and waves the fake gun in the air. Police took suo moto cognizance of the video and tracked down the four college students, three of them identified as Lakshay, Akshay and Satvik. During the investigation, cops found the youths were waving the gun-shaped lighter while on a joy ride on Friday, officials said. The video was shared by a passerby and uploaded on social media.A case under relevant sections of the CrPC and the Arms Act was registered at Vijayanagar police station. The syllabus for NEET-UG and JEE (Main) had remained unchanged despite the syllabus reduction for classes IX to XII during the pandemic. The exam is for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, and allied courses.
