Ghaziabad: Businessman robbed of Rs 22 lakh, gun & jewellery taken

GHAZIABAD: A burglary took place at a businessmans house in Morti village in Nandgram area as the assailants fled with cash of Rs 22 lakh, jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and a licenced revolver when nobody was at home. The businessman — Rohit Chaudhary, a transporter in Ghaziabad — told police that the crime took place on November 18 night or early hours of November 19.Around 5 pm on November 18, he left his house to go to Bulandshahr where his in-laws are living. Cash worth Rs 22 lakh and over 200 grams of gold were in the house along with a licenced revolver.I had borrowed Rs 5 lakh for my business, Rs 10 lakh was my earnings and my in-laws had kept the remaining Rs 7 lakh in our house for my sister-in-laws wedding due in February. The accused had entered the house after breaking the lock of the door and they also broke the lock of the almirah. They found the cash, jewellery and my revolver inside the almirah, he said.On November 19 evening, I returned to my house along with my wife and children and I found the door lock broken. When I entered the house, all items were scattered and cash, jewellery and my revolver were missing. Immediately, I informed the police and a team reached for help, Rohit said.ACP Nandgram Ravi Kumar said that an FIR was registered on Monday under Section 380 (theft) of the IPC.
