Road revamp done, new streetlights on Namo Bharat corridor soon

GHAZIABAD: Mayor Sunita Dayal on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for Rs 4.7 crore development work in the Vasundhara zone.Under it, pothole-riddled roads in wards 54, 61 and near Mewar Institute are set for a major revamp. Contractors have been directed not to compromise on the quality of work. Our officials will carry out quality checks from time to time, Dayal said.The stretch from Meerut trisection to Duhai Road along the Namo Bharat corridor, which was damaged during work on the corridor, is also set for a facelift.While the road and sidewalks were repaired by the NCR transport corporation recently, the stretch continued to be engulfed in darkness.Several streetlights were damaged during the construction were still left unattend. The GMC now plans to install street lights on the stretch. As per plans, the street lights will be installed on the median over which the Namo Bharat corridor passes, electric poles will be erected and there is also a plan to install façade lighting on Namo Bharat corridor pillars to add to the aesthetic sense. The work will commence soon, the official added.Meanwhile, a Namo Bharat commuter Ratnesh Singh said, We are greeted with a dark and unlit stretch once we get off the Namo Bharat stations from Ghaziabad to Duhai. The GCC has identified 152 dark spots in the city and has installed lights based on requests from councillors.
