2 pose as tenants for recce, return with gang to rob bizman & wife

GHAZIABAD: Four armed men barged into a house in Makanpur village and held the owners — a businessman and his wife — captive at gunpoint and took Rs 3 lakh cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.5 lakh on Wednesday. The incident took place around 8.30pm when Sushil Tyagi (56) was having dinner while his wife, Archana (52), was cooking.I was having dinner in my room when I heard the commotion and rushed outside.Then, I saw four masked men holding my wife hostage at knifepoint. Two men rushed towards me and one of them put a pistol to my head and the other a pair of scissors, Sushil, who runs a factory of corrugated boxes in Delhis Shahdara, said.Archana tried to free herself from their hold, but the men allegedly hit her with the butt of a pistol. She received an injury, and blood started oozing out of her head. Then, the men took out a tape and tied our hands and legs with it. They also sealed our mouth and took off all the gold jewellery my wife was wearing. They also snatched my wristwatch, added Sushil. The men found the keys of the almirah and emptied all the jewellery and cash. They fled without freeing the couple. Around 9.15pm, Archana managed to tear the tape put on her mouth and then, using her teeth, freed her hands. She then freed her husband and informed their son, the businessman stated.The couple claimed a few days ago, two men, wearing face masks, had come to their house posing as prospective tenants. They suspect the duo were there for a recce as were also present during the robbery. Based on the complaint, the accused have been booked under IPC Section 392 (robbery). We have found CCTV footage in which the accused were spotted. All are aged between 25 and 30 years.
