30 booked for crashing wedding, attacking organisers

Ghaziabad: Thirty people — 15 of them identified — were booked on Sunday for allegedly crashing a wedding and attacking the organisers when asked to leave. The incident happened on November 25 during a marriage function in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad. The brides mother filed a police complaint, saying the accused — Jaggu and his friends — insulted and attacked the wedding guests. The accused called their associates, who arrived with sticks and started fighting with the guests. They also robbed the guests of gold and silver ornaments and cash intended for the bride. They touched some of the women inappropriately and hit them when the women resisted. They fled the spot only when we contacted police, said the mother. Nimish Patel, the ACP of Kotwali area, said that based on the complaint, police have registered an FIR against 15 named persons, including Jaggu, his son Irfaan, Umar and others, as well as 25 unidentified persons under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of the offence committed in prosecution of common object), 354 (molestation), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Police teams are now looking for the accused and checking wedding video clips to identify all the unidentified persons, said Nimish Patel. Singh was forcibly removed from the ambulance and assaulted with a bamboo stick, while the vehicle was damaged. Another person in the ambulance, Dyaneshwar Nakade, managed to escape and inform the owner. The Mumbai Police has registered a case and is making efforts to apprehend the accused.
