Garbage van mows down 6-year-old boy in Loni

GHAZIABAD: A six-year-old boy was crushed under the wheels of a door-to-door garbage collection vehicle of Loni Nagar Palika on Thursday morning. The driver, who had fled after the accident, was arrested after family members along with locals staged a protest.According to police, the vehicle was on its daily round around 8am when the boy, Kaamil, dashed to cross the Nithora road in the Loni area near his house and came under the vehicle, ACP Loni Suryabali Maurya said.The boy was rushed to hospital but died before reaching it. His family members staged a protest in the area demanding the driver be arrested.Pankaj was identified arrested later in the day and booked under IPC sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 a (causing death by negligence).
