Panaji: The four-day Goa Carnival which begins on March 2 is going to be accessible to all for the first time this year. Enable Travel, accessible holiday specialist along with Ezy Mov, India’s first wheelchair taxi service and Disability Rights Association of Goa (DRAG), have come together to improve accessibility at festivities.To begin with, the Carnival parade will be made accessible in Panaji with elevated platforms, which will have ramps to provide easy movement to wheelchair users. For the first time, an accessible float, comprising disabled people and mobility-restricted elderly dressed in costumes and holding placards championing the cause of inclusivity, will be part of the parade.Enable Travel head Debolin Sen said, “Goa is more accessible than many other destinations in the country, but there is scope for improvement. As accessible travel specialists, we want to keep this momentum going and strengthen our commitment with our partners, Ezy Mov and DRAG, in creating an inclusive and accessible travel environment in Goa.”DRAG president Avelino Dsa said, “Goa Carnival attracts lakhs of visitors. But a large part of the disabled community has been missing out on it.”Ezy Mov CEO Bennet D’Cunha said, “We want the disabled and the elderly to live, travel and celebrate just like everyone else, independently.”To encourage participation from the disabled community and cater to their travel needs, Enable Travel in partnership with Ezy Mov is offering holiday packages for the Goa Carnival in economy and superior categories.
