PANAJI: At a time when political affiliations are changing overnight, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) is preparing for an awareness campaign for voters to gear up for the upcoming elections.The CEO in collaboration with the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) has invited entries for a special cantaram singing competition on ethical voting The solo singing competition is scheduled to be held on April 13 at 3pm at TAG’s conference hall.“The event is being held in a bid to create awareness among voters so that they can vote for a sincere candidate. The songs need to be original and the message should be that we have to vote for the right person without any fear,” former president of TAG and tiatrist Tomazinho Cardozo said.He said that applicants will neither be permitted to glorify or vilify any political party through their verses.“It is an exercise which will only highlight the importance of voting without getting influenced or having any bias. There is no scope to attack anybody. No party agenda driven songs willbe allowed,” he said, adding that member secretary of TAG, Cezar D’Mello, will assess the entries.To be eligible for the competition participants have to be 18 years and above.Those interested can collect entry forms from the office of TAG at Panaji and submit the same duly filled along with a photocopy of age proof and three typed copies of the lyrics of their song in Roman script to TAG on or before April 8, during office hours.
